Prototype Nvidia Shield Portable 2 Found in Pawn Shop
Nvidia's Shield branding can be found on a number of different types of device, with the most contempo existence the Shield Goggle box. Merely we've also had a Shield tablet and Shield Portable. Nosotros never got a 2d version of the Portable, but a pawn store purchase has revealed the Shield Portable 2 did exist.
Reddit user FwrigginRwootbeer spotted and bought a Shield-branded portable from a pawn shop in a "small Canadian metropolis." As Liliputing explains, information technology turns out the handheld is nigh likely a prototype of a second-generation Portable sent to developers for testing.
The first Shield Portable released back in 2022 included a 5-inch 720p display powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 (Tegra 4), 72 GeForce graphics cores, 2GB DDR3L RAM, and 16GB of storage.
The image Portable 2 upgraded the internals significantly. It uses a five.9-inch 1,440-past-810 display, a one.91GHz ARM Cortex-A57 (Tegra X1), 3GB RAM, and 32GB of storage. That suggests it was using Nvidia'southward T210 model Tegra X1, meaning a Maxwell-based GPU with up to 256 cores.
While the Portable 2 never saw a release, another portable device did with a similar Tegra X1 spec in the class of the Nintendo Switch. The Switch uses a 6.2-inch 720p display, 1.02GHz ARM Cortex-A57, 4GB RAM, Maxwell-based GPU, and 32GB of storage.
